Amit comes with over 15 years of versatile experience and is currently serving as the Vice President at IVCA (Indian Venture & Alternate Capital Association). He has been pivotal in driving engagement and relationships with the Venture Capital and start-up ecosystems.
At the helm of the VC Sector Council at IVCA, Amit manages a network of over 140 Member Funds, which includes VCs that are AIFs & Global funds, Angel Networks, Micro VC, and Corporate VCs and also several non-member domestic and Global funds. He has launched initiatives like #VC101, a comprehensive training program for first-time fund managers, and collaborated with Deloitte to create the “Governance Playbook for Startups.” He continues to champion governance initiatives with the “Responsibilities and Effectiveness of Board Members in Startups” program that was recently hosted in ISB Hyderabad.
Amit’s passion for nurturing the Indian startup ecosystem led him to contribute to resolving the Angel Tax issue, leading the charge from inception until the change was implemented by CBDT/DoR via DPIIT’s Section 56(2)(viib) amendments working alongside other Startup-Angel-VC industry stalwarts. His remarkable journey has seen him contribute significantly to policy advocacy, serving as a Special Invitee at BIRAC’s SEED and LEAP fund Advisory Committee. Amit has worked closely on Start-up States Ranking Framework with DPIIT and advocated for mobilising domestic pools of capital for the Indian VC ecosystem. His commitment to promoting start-ups and VCs has led to increased government engagement and collaboration, facilitating regulatory roundtables, and providing invaluable industry insights to the Government of India.
